Desire and feelings of intimacy may change. Physical side effects of chemotherapy may leave you exhausted. However, some people find that the experience of illness can lead to increased feelings.

We advise that the male partner wears a condom, and the female uses lubricant, for at least 7 days after receiving treatment. If the man has received chemotherapy, the partner may experience burning and irritation. If the woman has received chemotherapy, her vagina may become dry and uncomfortable.

Use a condom for oral sex or sexual intercourse. Vaginal and seminal secretions may contain trace amounts of chemotherapy. If you or your partner is at risk of pregnancy it is important that a reliable contraceptive is used, as chemotherapy may be harmful to a developing embryo. It is important to note that you may still be at risk following a vasectomy or if you are not in a true menopause. There are multiple creams and lotions available from pharmacy.

Can i still kiss & cuddle?

Yes. It is still okay to kiss and cuddle family and children during this time.
